The bad economist sees only the direct consequences of a proposed course; the good economist looks also at the longer and indirect consequences.”

An advisor should do his or her best to be like the “good economist.” An occasional mid-course correction is to be expected from time to time, but adopting entirely new strategies at the drop of a hat does not bode well for meeting the client’s long-term goals. It is a weighty responsibility to be entrusted with another person’s money, time, or hope and advisors should remember that.
